Unwind Shawl - Margaret Stove
A beautifully geometric shawl, the fern motif is based on that seen in the Filmy Fern Shawl (Wrapped in Lace, Interweave Press 2010). More accessible than Margaret’s more complex heirloom shawl patterns, the Unwind Shawl is an interesting yet not overly difficult knit.
Errata:
row 41 of the written instructions should begin with k2,yo, k3….
For the edging:
and Row 9: k2, yo, ssk, k5

We're doing a KAL with this pattern:
Now that the Rocky Coast KAL is done and dusted (except for the badges, which I still need to organize), I thought its time to organize another one :)
A few people on twitter have talked me into making the Unwind shawl by Margaret Stove the next KAL pattern. It hasn’t been released yet, but it’s your chance to knit a smaller, much more manageable variation on the Filmy Fern shawl. I’ve started knitting it to make sure I can get my head round the pattern, and it’s a wonderfully geometric design that I think any knitter could have a crack at.
The plan is to have the pattern released early next week, and it will be a paid pattern. Taking part in the KAL will you give you a discount though :)
You’ll need:
190 - 400m of lace weight yarn (I’m using Zealana air, Margaret used Tibetan Mink)
OR earn brownie points by trying it out with 4ply
Needles: 2.75 - 3mm for lace, 3.75ish for 4ply
Participation will earn you a brownie badge! Hooray!
