HRYC
World Famous (In New Zealand)
Wheee! Look at us, featured in this month's New Zealand House and Garden magazine.
Thanks so much to Ann for putting us in there. Appropriate that today we've ordered heirloom seeds so that we can grow our own little shop edible garden. Nothing like lunch being to hand when we get peckish!
We've also got some seriously exciting stock heading this way. Seriously, crazy, silly exciting that has Tash all giddy like a schoolgirl. Hooray!
Sexy hexi puffs
It's all excitement around here today! We've been busy chatting to the lovely people from KidsCan and confirmed some more details of the KAL. Hooray!
Our basket of hexipuffs is getting fuller and fuller, but: we'd love a million more! Well, maybe not quite a million, but lots.
Hooray hexipuffs!
We are going to be collecting and stitching together at Craft2.0 in the City on 29 October - so feel free to come down and join us if you are in Wellington. The finished quilt will be auctioned off on Trademe with all the proceeds going to the fantastic KidsCan.
But, more importantly: PRIZES! We'll be adding even more to this list, so get knitting and be in to win!
On a boat. Sort of.
After two customers in a row picked up red & blue for their next knitting projects, and having had a good browse through the fashion mags recently, the maritime trend will be unavoidable for the next few months. So: some ideas!
Cascade 220 - looking tres chic ($15 per 100g skein, 10ply, 100% wool)
Harvest for a bit of heathery texture (merino, cashmere, alpaca, & more, $5 for 50g, 8ply)
Prism ($5 for 50g, certified organic 8ply)
Gorgeous vintage, perfect for bubs ($5 per 50g, 8ply)
Knitsch Sock ($12.95 for 50g, 100% NZ merino)
And if you need ideas for Spring Maritime projects...
A Daybreak by Stephen West...or a Clockwork...or a Creekbed (gosh, we do love stripes! And Stephen West!)
Or you could stripe up the lovely Julia's Young Einstein for a small person. Actually, what is on your list to knit this Spring? Share!
Let's get PARKing
With her work for OutdoorKnit, Tash has become quite passionate about communities taking ownership of public spaces. After all, we are the primary users of the streets, parks and footpaths, so why not make something really special of them?

We're really excited to be taking our knitting outdoors on Friday September 16 for International PARKing Day. It's an annual event inviting people to take over car parking spaces and be creative. The car parks just in front of Holland Road Yarn Co will be converted into an outdoor knitting lounge - the best kind if you ask us!
Everyone is welcome to join us, to sit in a comfy chair, have a go at knitting and enjoy the fresh air. We'll have the ingredients for our Beekeeper's Quilt knit-along, and it's also the perfect time to bring along any tricky knitty questions you may have.
The plan:
What: PARKing day
When: 12pm - 4pm, Friday September 16
Where: Holland Road Yarn Company, 281 Jackson Street, Petone
